Love is a necessary ingredient in the life of every individual. Many years ago it was discovered that tiny babies need love. Babies left in orphanages or hospitals without the warmth of a loving stroke or tender embrace did not thrive.

Jesus Loves You
Here is a Prayer That Can Change Your Life
Ask most people what they want out of life and it all boils down to this four-letter word, to love and to be loved!

The use of this one little word has the power to lift our spirits or send us into the depths of despair. It’s a word that has an enormous impact on our lives. However, its true meaning is often misunderstood.

Though love is a basic human emotion, it is difficult to define. Perhaps that is why the Greeks use three forms of the word to describe what we commonly refer to as love.

Eros is the word for sexual attraction or lust. It is quite simply, the urge to merge. It is generally dependent on the senses. It can come on quite suddenly and leave just as suddenly. Phileo is the love one feels for a relative or close friend, often referred to as “brotherly love.”

Agapao was the verb used in classical Greek literature to describe the actions associated with what we have come to think of as “true love.” Liddell & Scott’s Intermediate Lexicon defines it this way: “To treat with affection, to caress, love, be fond of.” This verb reflects the actions associated with the urgency and passion of eros as well as the caring of phileo.

Agape, a noun, is the most powerful word imaginable for love. It was first used by the early Christians to describe the love of God in Christ, the love intended to provoke our love for Him and to motivate a lifestyle of love toward others.

There always has been some confusion between true love and the passionate affection one has for a member of the opposite sex. The latter is meaningless without the former and, if those passions are followed through to the ultimate conclusion without real love, the two people involved may feel empty, cheated and hurt.

How do you know that a person who professes to love you really loves you? The answer is simple – time. Its passions ebb and flow, but if love is true, the commitment remains constant through the best and worst of circumstances.

It is no wonder that today’s young people are more confused than ever about love. Our educational systems cater to the dysfunctional student who doesn’t know the meaning of “delayed gratification.”

When we pass out the condoms, what we are really telling our young people is “Play now; pay later.” Unfortunately, with HIV/AIDS and the human papilloma virus, or HPV, which can lead to cervical cancer, some will pay with their lives. If you think that sexual activity among willing young people is no big deal, you are wrong, dead wrong.

While condoms often fail to prevent pregnancy, they fail to prevent exposure to HIV/AIDS nearly 16 percent of the time. Also, there is no scientific evidence that condoms prevent the transmission of HPV as well as a host of other sexually transmitted diseases.

Yes, a new drug has been rushed to market that is supposed to protect against certain strains of HPV, but the long-term side effects and results are unknown.

Even if sexually permissive youths manage to escape a sexual transmitted disease, there is no vaccination that will prevent dysfunctional students from becoming dysfunctional adults, incapable of understanding what it truly means to be in a loving relationship.

The best modern definition I’ve found for love is this: The commitment one makes to the best interest of another person, now and in the future.

I Corinthians 13 expands that definition, and Valentine’s Day is a wonderful opportunity to share it with the young people in your life:

Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.

It is possible to receive love from others, but still have an inner longing that cannot be satisfied. I think of it as a homing device, installed by our Creator that leads us to Him.

Remember: The only perfect love comes from God. In I John, we are told, “We love because He first loved us.”

Love Is Wallpaper Biography

Why it might be wise to wait a little longer before telling him how you feel.
Picture this. You've been dating a new guy for a few weeks. Things are going amazingly well and you can't stop thinking about him. You connect on so many different levels and you just seem to get each other. He is exactly what you've been looking for in a man and, not only that, he exceeds your expectations.

More from YourTango: 5 Places To Meet a Guy On Halloween

In other words, you're in love with him and you're wondering if you should tell him exactly how you feel. But before you go saying "I love you," there are a few things you should know about saying these three little words too soon and why it might be a good idea to hold your tongue for a while.

Saying "I love you" too early puts intense pressure on the relationship. Suddenly, you aren't just dating anymore — you're in love. It's more serious and often times, more limiting.

Along with love comes expectations that a new relationship might not be able to live up to. Love implies forever; but how do you know that you want to be with someone forever if you haven't even been together for a month? The 5 Most Common Dating Epiphanies [EXPERT]

Dating should be about working on getting to know each other and, most importantly, having fun. When you throw the word "love" into the equation, you force yourself and your partner to look ahead to the future. This may cause you to stop paying anymore attention to living in the moment and enjoying where you are in the present day.

More from YourTango: 3 Ways To Break Out Of Your Relationship Rut [EXPERT]

Love can't be rushed, no matter how soon you want to say it. It's important to keep in mind that just because you say it, doesn't mean your relationship will rise to the occasion.

I don't think "I love you" really implies forever. I suppose, in some respects, that being in love could be limiting but you probably wouldn't say it before you're 100% exclusive. At that point, I think it would be less limiting. Dropping the 143 (for some people) is a way for some people to affirm to themselves and not just their partner that they care for them tremendously and want them to feel safe and cherished.

SneakyGuy  tom • 5 months ago
I agree. It neither implies nor means "forever." I don't know about anyone else. But personally, I can't say what kind of man I'd be 5 years from now. Likewise, I can't say what kind of woman a woman would be 5 years from now. Change is the only constant in the universe - which, at my age (62), makes me very skeptical of the committed "long term relationship." I "loved" my wife when I was 30. Twenty years later, she and I both realized we couldn't live peacefully under the same roof anymore. She didn't want to get a divorce, however, since she was in a personal "comfort zone." I did ... and so I divorced her (and have been glad I did ever since).

BTW, I didn't divorce her for another woman. I divorced her because our relationship became suffocating over the years. And on future relationships? Maybe - with the understanding that they will be day-to-day relationships. To my knowledge, no one is clairvoyant. I know I'm not.

Just because a man says "I Love You" to me doesn't mean that he means it.
Many people throw the word Love around. It can mean different things to different people.

lisa shield • 5 months ago
I might be a bit old-fashioned, but I think it's best to let the guy say "I love you" first. As a woman, you can say things like, "I love hanging out with you," "I love your company," or "I love that look you get in your eye when you about to tell a joke," but I would let the guy saw the Big Three when he's ready.

It's always too soon, especially if you have to ask yourself if it's too soon.

I think that it's very easy to say "I Love You" but it's very difficult to maintain the love relationship. You should give some time to understand each other.

SneakyGuy  London Escorts • 4 months ago
The "you should give some time to understand each other" idea is based on a false premise. It assumes that, at some point in time, feelings "freeze" into a constant that never changes. Unfortunately, people don't work that way. People change all the time. Sometimes, these changes can be profound and immediate. Sometimes, these changes occur so slowly that they're not noticed until the cumulative effect of several smaller changes coalesce into an epiphany.

Here's something to keep in mind. The idea of "marriage" comes from a notion that certain animal species mate for life. Human history has proven this notion to be false for humans. It wasn't all that long ago in human history when polygamy was the norm, not the exception. But even polygamy assumes a "commitment" based on that false notion. For example, wolves mate for life. This is a fact. It's also a fact that wolves "cheat" on their mates. But afterward, mates continue to stay together. Only one species I'm aware of seems to take cheating "personally" - the human species. But this is due to eons of religious brainwashing that taught us it SHOULD be taken personally (ie, "What God has joined together, let no man put asunder," from the traditional marriage vows). Other species aren't handicapped by this brainwashing and, therefore, don't consider the straying of mates as "cheating" to be taken personally ... but as just another fact of nature.

But if this isn't enough proof, consider the fact that 50% of all marriages today end in divorce. And also consider the fact that the remaining 50% who stay married aren't necessarily in a "happy" marriage. At the very least, this proves that any expression of "LOVE" is meant as a momentary expression ... that who you LOVE today may not be who you LOVE tomorrow. It also implies that the success of a long-term monogamous relationship is more a matter of "luck" than anything else.

Couples In Love Wallpapers Biography

Are you in a new relationship and wondering about the right time to say the L word? If you’re wondering when to say “I love you”, use these signs. By Alison Ricard

Love is a powerful word.

For some, it’s an overwhelming word that wells up happy emotions.

For others, it’s an awkward and discomfited silence.

A lot of us place a lot of importance on the word, love, especially when it comes to saying it to a new significant other.

If you’re in a new relationship or have started dating someone recently, you’d find yourself wondering about the right time to take that next step, especially if you’re already in love.

[Read: How to prove your love for someone the right way]

When is the right time to say it?

When you feel it, say it. It’s that simple really.

But as simple as it may seem, there are a few things you should remember to make sure your loving words have the impact you desire.

Firstly, before you say ‘I love you’, you need to have a vague idea about your date’s feelings towards you.

Saying ‘I love you’ is like a binding contract, even if just one person says it to the other. And once you’ve said it, there’s no turning back.

Your date has to accept your proposal at some point of time or the whole things gets called off.

But you don’t have to be scared though. Love is a leap of faith, and there’s no point in playing safe in the world of dating and love.

Saying it too early will lose the value

If you think you love someone, that’s a great sign. It’s not too easy to find prospective lovers with whom we can fall deeply in love. But even if you think you’re already truly, madly and deeply in love, wait a while before expressing your lovey emotions.

If you say it too early into a relationship, you may make the whole thing feel trivial, like you’re used to saying ‘I love you’ to anyone you date. Take your time, build the romance and say it at the right moment.

Saying I love you for the first time

Here are 10 tips you need to keep in mind before saying ‘I love you’ for the first time. It’ll make the whole loving revelation much more smoother and meaningful.

#1 Let your date know. Your date should know your intentions much before you actually reveal them. Let your date know just how serious you are about the relationship. When you get some time to speak with each other, talk about how special you feel when they’re around and how romantic and meaningful your life has become since they’ve stepped into it.

If you’re dating someone who’s only looking for a fling thing, they’ll know it’s time to back off. [Read: 10 types of love you'll experience in your life]

#2 Be nice. Let your romantic gestures reveal your intentions. Casual daters don’t go out of their way to do something nice for each other. If you truly love someone and are only waiting for the opportune moment, start to treat your date like you would treat your lover. Your date will instinctively know where the relationship is heading. [Read: 25 sweet romantic gestures for everyday life]

#3 Test your compatibility. Can you visualize your date in your arms five years from now? Do you really love this person you’re dating, or is it just an infatuation that’s clouding your mind? Love isn’t a trivial thing. Before you say ‘I love you’, you need to be sure that you would want this person in your life as something more than just a weekend date.

#4 Who says it? It’s usually a man’s job to profess his love and control the direction of the relationship. So all you men out there, man up and make a move, will ya?

*See how easy it is to make a guy feel important? Just say the wheels of the relationship is in his hands and he’ll feel flattered. But as much as the man holds the wheel, the woman is the navigator who plans the directions.* [Read: How to get a guy to ask you out in 9 sneaky ways]

It doesn’t matter who says it first. But generally, women play with their cards closer to the chest as evolution has trained them to play hard to get. After all, women have one egg a month to share with a man. Men have billions of sperms in every casual shoot. Who do you think needs to protect their resources here?

#5 Go out on at least five dates. You think five dates are too soon? Well, it is early, but completely acceptable. The ideal time to say ‘I love you’ would be a couple of months. Wait for two months if you can hold your emotions in and try to figure the direction of the relationship. If you still love every moment you spend with your date, perhaps it’s time to take the plunge.

#6 Don’t wait too long. Listen to your gut. Wait too long, and you may even lose the relationship. Sometimes, your date may get tired of waiting, especially if the girl’s waiting for the guy to say the three magical words! It’s always better to express your love earlier than later.

#7 The right way to say I love you for the first time. There are many ways to say ‘I love you’ for the first time. You can create a special memory, or you can say it in the middle of a conversation. But for the best ways to say I love you, read the whole list of ideas and tips in ways to tell a special someone that you’re in love with them.

#8 Don’t expect a response immediately. After you’ve used the tips in #7 to say ‘I love you’ in a manner you like, don’t push your luck. At times, your date may just not be ready to say anything back or perhaps, they just need more time to say it back to you. You’ve poured your heart out. Enjoy the moment when you’ve revealed your thoughts and sit back. The response will come when it has to.

#9 Don’t apologize. Most people go wrong here. If you confess your love for someone, and they don’t respond back with anything, don’t apologize. Apologizing after asking someone out just to cover up the awkwardness will only make things feel worse.

You’re saying what’s on your mind. Why should you apologize for that? If your date isn’t ready to hear that, they probably have their own issues to deal with anyway. [Read: 25 relationship rules for successful love]

#10 Don’t respond on their behalf. Awkward silences are fine here. You’ve made a big revelation. You’ve just told your date that you love them. And that means you wish to become an exclusive couple, which means you may get married some day and have babies together. You see, there are a lot of things your date has to think of the minute you say ‘I love you’.

Give enough time for your date to think, and don’t go mouthing something just to cut the silence. Don’t say things like “I know it’s too early…”, “I should never have said that… what was I thinking?” or “Don’t worry about it, I just said what was on my mind, you don’t have to say anything back to me”.

If you answer on your date’s behalf, your date may just smile at you awkwardly and talk about something else. You’ve just helped your date squirm out without giving you an answer. Unless you intend to keep proposing your love every weekend, avoid answering on their behalf.

[Read: New relationship advice for a perfect start]

Confessing your love for the first time can be tricky, but not if you use these 10 tips on when to say I love you. Keep these tips in mind, and you’ll be able to get the message across and say ‘I love you’ in the perfect manner, at the perfect time.

I Love Typography Wallpaper Biography

In February of 1989, I had the pleasure of meeting Josef Müller-Brockmann. I was a young, wide-eyed student of 21 years studying at Arizona State University. With great fortune, a professor of mine had heard that Müller-Brockmann was going to be in the country and asked him to add a stop in Tempe, Arizona. The program director for the design department at ASU at the time was the famous Rob Roy Kelly, known for putting together successful design programs, many of which became blueprints for other design schools. Because of Müller-Brockmann’s interest in design education, he accepted the invitation.

In 1997, James Montalbano and Paul Shaw founded TDC2, a second competition that dealt specifically with the design of typefaces. Together, they chaired the first two TDC2 competitions, and they have remained closely involved with it ever since.

The Voice of all the Gods

Today I’ve released two limited edition prints along with some originals. The prints are based on words penned by William Shakespeare and Dylan Thomas.

‘The Voice of all the Gods’ is a quote from Shakespeare’s ‘Loves Labours Lost.’ The first time I read the passage in which this phrase occurs I couldn’t get it out of my head for weeks. The words are extraordinarily rich, and I wanted my visual interpretation to reflect this. The main source of inspiration for the letterforms comes from the 18th century, but I’ve tried to rework or re-imagine them in the spirit of our time. Above all, I wanted my interpretation of Shakespeare’s words to capture their shimmering beauty and harmony.

The Complete Engraver

A REVIEW BY JAMES PUCKETT

When it comes to the Gilded Age, the canon of design history teaches of broadside posters and the Kelmscott press. Wood type and artistic printing have attracted a following and are fighting their way in. Further outside the canon lies a neglected facet of design woven into society, personal lives and business — engraved stationery. The Complete Engraver introduces engraving as a subject worthy of the canon, and is an approachable, interesting, and compelling read.

Condensed Typeface Design Program

The Condensed Typeface Design Program at the Cooper Union is a five-week-long studio course that at first glance, simply teaches the basics and traditions of typeface design. In reality, it was an amazing and intense summer spent with passionate people immersed in the world of type. During the 12-hour days (with breaks!) we studied type history, calligraphy, different drawing techniques, and learned the process of designing and digitizing a font. Most of the program time was spent on a final project in which each of us created an industry-standard OpenType font.

Space: The Initial Frontier

BOOK REVIEW — INSIDE PARAGRAPHS

I have long admired Cyrus Highsmith, both for his type design (Benton Sans, Prensa, Zócalo, & many besides) and his wonderfully unique style of illustration and lettering. In his debut book, Inside Paragraphs: typographic fundamentals, he brings both of these talents to bear on a single topic, the paragraph. The book might alternatively have been titled ‘Space: the initial frontier’ for its principal focus is what goes on inside — not a book, not a page, but — a single paragraph of text — and as what goes on inside is mostly space, white space, or negative space, it is the ideal starting point for an introduction to the craft of setting type, to typography.
